Today project was to draw the structure of your object. My object is the Moon cactus, I mostly study the inside of it and did some research about it. We were told to look for other structure that looks a lot like, I went with the Pineapple because the inside looks the same as the inside of the Moon Cactus.

Nature Drawing
Over the weekend we had to draw things from nature that have structure. I drew a pine cone, pine needles, leaves, mushrooms, cactus, succulents, and tree nuts.Pine Cone- They are large woody cones that are a key element for pine trees. Both female and male cones appear on a tree. The female cones produce seeds, while the man cones drop pollen. The pollen is carried by gravity or the wind to the female cones, fertilizing the seeds.
Pines needles- Pine trees produce long, narrow needles 1 to 11 inches long. Pine needles range from blue to dark green and are bundled into groups of two, three, or five needles. The needles connect near the point where they attach to the branch. When needles are in groups of three, they originate from ponderosa pines.
Cactus generally live in dry places such as deserts. There are 1,500 to 1,800 species of cacti. Cacti come in all shapes and sizes from round and short through to thin and tall. The spines of a cactus are highly modified versions of plant leaves, there are very few cacti species with true plant leaves.

The project for today was to sketch out five different objects. The objects should interact with the human body. I sketched out three things people get addicted too. Addiction can turn a persons life into a complete mess. There are many things that one can become addicted to, like smoking cigarettes, drinking coffee, and even money. Then I sketched out two things that influence your life like music and skateboarding. The reason why I went with music and skateboarding because music takes your mind off life, no matter what’s going on in your head and you capture words, tune, beat, and flow of the song you’re listening to. Same as skateboarding because when I skateboard I feel free.

Visual Symposium
Last Friday's symposium was the theme of Reflecting vs. Shaping the world through your art. The artist makes art that influences our society and that make people reflect upon events that happen around us. Artists are capable of creating awareness through their art in order to create a change. These days it is not very easy to change a big problem from one day to another, but you can do little by little. Artist can use their culture and origins in order to teach about empathy towards different ethical groups.Sunday, October 16, 2016
Objects with The Printed Fabric
This first image is when I first learned to skate, I thought that I was in control of every movement but as I started I realized that I wasn't. You need to learn how to control your body in order to being able to jump or go in a certain direction. I failed many times but I kept trying and I didn't give up because I had courage. I needed bravery in order to go out there and be able to do tricks.
This picture is more about the process of how I was feeling while I was learning to skate. There were moments where I didn't know if I should keep trying or not. It was like a mix of emotions where I didn't know if I was made for skating. I honestly just knew I wanted to go for it and have fun. I wanted to achieve learning how to skate by myself in order to go out there and show my abilities.
In this image I wanted to prove how working hard to achieve your dreams will bring you satisfaction. Once you overcome your fears and achieve your dreams, you will be assured that all of your hard work has paid off. This achievement should be able to bring you happiness. By achieving your dreams or fears you will be able to do what you want next. You have accomplished your goal by working hard and this will make you feel positive and proud of yourself. With this image I tried to represent myself as a superhero by looking out into the city and thinking what challenge I can take on next.
Printing onto Fabric
Finding the right fabric
First I went with the fuzzing fabric but I couldn't really see the prints on it. Next, I went with stretching fabric. I felt like the prints worked out great but still wasn't the right fabric so I went with a cotton type fabric because the colors turned out great with it. The colors went with was a navy blue, green, and a dark orange.

Pattern Progress
Finding the right color
First, we had to do it with black ink before we could add color. For my, I wanted to show the skating lions movement in my pattern. My first option with added color was a light orange and black but I felt like it wasn't bold enough and it didn't really stand out too great. My second option was to go with blue and orange but still didn't really stand out. My third option was to go with red, white and blue.
